Business water
Many businesses don't know they can choose who bills them for water. In Scotland and England, most businesses can pick their water retailer. The pipes and the water stay the same. What can change is the price, the service and the billing.
How it works
- Scotland: Businesses and other non-household customers have been able to choose their water retailer for many years. Scottish Water still looks after the pipes and supply.
- England: The non-household water market opened in April 2017. Most businesses in England can now choose their retailer. Your regional water company still looks after the pipes and supply.
- Wales: Most businesses in Wales can't switch retailer at the moment. Rules are different for very large users. If you're in Wales, ask us and we'll check.

- Whether a different retailer could offer a better price or service
- Whether your bills look right, including charges based on site area or drainage
- Whether you're being billed for the right meters and premises
- Options when you move into new premises
